PERMANENT MULTISECTORAL TECHNICAL COMMITTEE (CTMP)

After the second Conference on Repositioning Family Planning in 2009, it was necessary to monitor the implementation of the recommendations developed at the Conference. It was with this goal that the Ministry of Public Health, with the support of its different partners, national and international NGOs, established an ad hoc technical committee to do this work. The committee is known as the CTMP.

The CTMP will be joined later by other implicated government ministries, such as the Ministry of Plan, Ministry of the Monitoring of Implementation of the Modernization Revolution; Ministry of Gender, Family and Children; and the Ministry of Social Affairs; in addition to many civil society organizations, including religious groups and youth associations.

The CTMP meets at the last Thursday of each month in session, and in extraordinary sessions when an important question related to FP arises.

Among the notable achievements of the CTMP thus far:

• The mobilization of a large delegation from the DRC to participate in the international conference on FP, held at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa in November 2013
• The development of a national multisectoral strategic plan for PF in 2014
• The development of a proposed law on RH / FP awaiting consideration in the National Assembly
• The technical organization of the 3rd national conference on Repositioning FP, which took place from 3-5 December 2014 in Kinshasa

The current president of the CTMP is Dr. Arsene Binanga.
