CONTRACEPTIVES AVALIABLE IN THE DRC

Most of the contraceptives available in the DRC are supplied by USAID or UNFPA (see section on Commodities). The PNSR lists the following methods as available in the DRC (although few FP sites provide this full range).

Modern Methods:
  • Pills (Microgynon, Lo-femenal, Ovrette)
  • Emergency Contraception
  • Implants (Norplant-2 or Jadelle)
  • Injectables (Depo Provera, Noristerat)
  • IUD (Copper T 380A or TCu 380)
  • Male Condoms
  • Female Condoms
  • Tubal ligation (female sterilization) – performed by referral to a hospital
  • Vasectomy (male sterilization) – performed by referral to a hospital
