ALL FAMILY PLANNING SITES IN KINSHASA, DRC (2013)

The map below presents all surveyed sites offering family planning services in Kinshasa, DRC. During the data collection phase of the project, the GPS coordinates of all surveyed sites were recorded and tabulated, and a Google Earth platform was created to display the different sites as well as the level of FP services they were offering on the day the survey was conducted.

Colors indicate the level of services offered on the day the survey was conducted:

Bright red indicates that the site offers FP services but had no trained staff and no contraceptive methods available besides condoms.

Orange indicates that the site offers FP services, had at least one staff member trained in FP, but no contraceptive methods available besides condoms on the day the survey was conducted.

Yellow indicates that the site offers FP services, had at least one staff member trained in FP and at least one contraceptive method available besides condoms on the day the survey was conducted.

Light green indicates that the site offers FP services, had at least one staff member trained in FP, and at least two contraceptive methods available besides condoms on the day the survey was conducted.

Dark green indicates that the site offers FP services, had at least one staff member trained in FP, at least two contraceptive methods available besides condoms, and a functioning Stocks and Sales Monitoring System on the day the survey was conducted.

Instructions for using interactive map
You can use the scroll wheel on your mouse, the track pad or the + / - signs on your keyboard to zoom in and out of the map and obtain information on a site that interest you. If two sites are too close to each other, they will pop up simultaneously; you need to zoom in to be able to select them separately. Once you select a site, an interactive bubble will appear with:

  • The GPS coordinates of the sites
  • ID number for the survey
  • The Site’s Commune and Address
  • Type of structure (Pharmacy or Health Structure) and Status (Private, Public, etc…)
  • Existence of a Stocks Monitoring System, and if yes, of what kind.
  • The number of Staff trained in Family Planning (FP_Staff)
  • Which contraceptive methods were available on the day the survey was conducted

"THREE STAR" FAMILY PLANNING SERVICES IN KINSHASA, DRC

The map below presents all surveyed sites offering “Three Star” family planning services in Kinshasa, DRC. The GPS coordinates of all surveyed sites were recorded and tabulated, then an interactive map was created using Google Earth to display all the sites offering “Three Star” standard FP services.

“Three Star” FP Sites:

  • Had at least one staff member trained in family planning.
  • Had at least two contraceptive methods available other than condoms, on the day the survey was conducted.
  • Had a functioning stocks and sales monitoring system.

Among the surveyed structures, 83 were “Three Star”, including 75 health structures and 8 pharmacies.
